Demand a Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine: No Deals Without Ukrainian Voices

Monday’s high-stakes meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky comes after Trump’s private discussions with Vladimir Putin about a potential peace agreement in Ukraine. While ending the war is urgent, history has shown that agreements made without the full participation of the people most affected are unlikely to bring lasting peace or justice.

We are deeply concerned that secretive negotiations and backroom deals could undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and the rights of its people. Any peace must be just, inclusive, and respect Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders. The voices of Ukrainian civil society, displaced persons, and frontline communities must be heard and respected in any process.

We call on President Trump, President Zelensky, and all U.S. leaders to ensure that:

• Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable.
• Ukrainian civil society and affected communities are included in all negotiations.
• International law and human rights are upheld in any agreement.
• No concessions are made to authoritarian aggression or occupation.

We urge all parties to prioritize a just and lasting peace, not a rushed deal that risks further violence and injustice.
