Target: European Council, European Commission, US President, Russian President, and all parties to Ukraine peace talks
Goal: Ensure that Ukrainian civil society, victims of the war, and grassroots organizations are included in all negotiations, and that any peace agreement upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty, justice for victims, and long-term security.
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned that high-level negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine risk sidelining the Ukrainian people themselves. While diplomatic efforts are essential, history has shown that peace agreements made without the meaningful participation of those most affected are less likely to result in lasting justice or security.
We call on all parties to ensure that Ukrainian civil society, victims of the war, and grassroots organizations are at the center of any peace process. True peace must not be negotiated over the heads of those who have suffered most. The voices of refugees, frontline communities, and marginalized groups must be heard and respected.
We further demand that any agreement includes strong provisions for accountability, reparations for victims, and guarantees for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Security guarantees should not come at the expense of justice or the rights of Ukraine’s people.
We urge European leaders, the US, and all negotiating parties to commit to a transparent, inclusive process that puts justice and human rights first.
