Target: President of the United States, US Congress, and the Mayor of Washington, D.C.
Goal: We call for an immediate halt to the militarization of Washington, D.C., transparency in all National Guard deployments, and a commitment to protecting the rights of all residents and demonstrators.
The deployment of National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. by President Trump, under the pretext of cracking down on crime, sets a dangerous precedent for the use of military force in civilian spaces. History has shown that such measures often lead to the suppression of free speech, the intimidation of peaceful protesters, and the erosion of trust between communities and those sworn to protect them.
We believe that public safety must be achieved through community investment, dialogue, and respect for constitutional rights—not through intimidation and force. The repeated use of military personnel to police American cities undermines democracy and threatens the safety and dignity of all residents, particularly marginalized communities who are most often targeted by such tactics.
We urge our elected officials to prioritize de-escalation, transparency, and accountability. The people of Washington, D.C., and all Americans, deserve to live free from the threat of military intervention in their daily lives.
