Target: United Nations Human Rights Council, Organization of American States, and world governments

Goal: We call on global leaders and organizations to respect Brazil’s judicial process, reject foreign interference, and support the protection of democratic institutions in Brazil.

Brazil’s democratic institutions are under threat as former president Jair Bolsonaro faces charges for allegedly plotting to overturn the 2022 election results. Amidst international interference and attempts to undermine Brazil’s judiciary, we must stand up for the rule of law and the right of the Brazilian people to determine their own future.

Brazil’s Supreme Court is set to rule on serious charges against former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is accused of attempting to subvert the will of the Brazilian people after losing the 2022 election. Despite clear evidence and due process, Bolsonaro and his allies have sought to delegitimize the judicial process, with support from foreign leaders such as Donald Trump, who has imposed punitive tariffs on Brazil in response to the prosecution.

Such actions represent a dangerous precedent of foreign interference and undermine the independence of Brazil’s judiciary. The international community must stand in solidarity with the Brazilian people and their democratic institutions, ensuring that justice is served without external pressure or intimidation.

We urge international organizations and governments to publicly support Brazil’s right to conduct fair and independent legal proceedings, and to reject any attempts to politicize or obstruct justice in this critical moment for Brazilian democracy.
