Target: President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and international leaders involved in Ukraine peace talks
Goal: We call on President Trump, President Zelenskyy, and all parties involved to ensure that any negotiations regarding Ukraine’s future are transparent, inclusive, and uphold the principles of self-determination, human rights, and international law.
The recent high-level discussions between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have highlighted the urgent need for a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine. However, we are deeply concerned that the push for a rapid peace agreement—rather than a carefully negotiated ceasefire—could sideline the voices of Ukrainian civil society, international human rights organizations, and those most affected by the war.
Peace cannot be imposed from above or negotiated solely between powerful leaders. The people of Ukraine must have a decisive voice in determining their own future, and any agreement must be rooted in justice, accountability, and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Secretive or expedited deals risk legitimizing aggression, undermining international norms, and perpetuating cycles of violence.
We urge all leaders to commit to a transparent process that includes broad representation from Ukrainian society, upholds international law, and centers the needs and rights of civilians. The world is watching, and history will judge the choices made in these critical days.
