The recent U.S.-Russia summit ended without a concrete agreement to halt the violence in Ukraine, leaving millions at risk as fighting continues along a 1,000-kilometer front. President Zelenskyy, excluded from the Alaska summit, has called for robust European involvement and ironclad security guarantees for Ukraine. Despite calls for a ceasefire, Russia has shown no intention of ending its aggression, launching new attacks even as talks were underway.
We call on President Trump, President Zelenskyy, and European leaders to ensure that any peace negotiations with Russia:
- Respect Ukraine's sovereignty and internationally recognized borders
- Include enforceable security guarantees backed by both the U.S. and Europe
- Strengthen sanctions against Russia if it fails to commit to a genuine peace process
- Reject any settlement that rewards territorial aggression or undermines Ukrainian self-determination
Peace cannot be achieved by sidelining those most affected or by appeasing continued aggression. The international community must stand united for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
