Target: President Donald Trump and the US Administration
Goal: We call on President Trump and the US administration to permanently withdraw all threats of secondary tariffs on India and other nations for their trade relationships, and to respect the sovereignty and economic rights of all countries.
President Trump's decision to suspend, for just a few weeks, the threatened imposition of 50% tariffs on Indian imports is not enough. These threats, tied to India's purchase of Russian oil, risk destabilizing economies and livelihoods in the Global South. Punitive tariffs and secondary sanctions are coercive tools that harm ordinary people, escalate geopolitical tensions, and undermine international solidarity.
India and China, as significant importers of Russian oil, should not be punished for pursuing their own economic interests. Instead of using economic threats, the US must engage in fair, multilateral dialogue and respect the sovereignty of all nations. We demand a permanent end to these threats, and a commitment to policies that prioritize peace, cooperation, and economic justice worldwide.
