Target: Chancellor Justin Schwartz and the University of Colorado Boulder Administration
Goal: Ensure that CU Boulder prioritizes affordable education, robust student support, and climate action, while protecting international students and investing in the campus community.
Chancellor Justin Schwartz has outlined an ambitious vision for the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on sustainability, student success, and maximizing resources for students. However, significant barriers remain, including affordability, mental health support, and uncertainty for international students. We call on CU Boulder leadership to take bold action to ensure every student can thrive.
Chancellor Schwartz’s first year at CU Boulder has seen progress in sustainability and student support, but students continue to face major obstacles. High housing costs, mental health challenges, and uncertainty for international students threaten the university’s mission of inclusive excellence. The university’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 is a positive step, but more immediate action is needed to make CU Boulder accessible and sustainable for all.
We urge the administration to:
- Expand affordable on-campus housing and address the rising cost of living in Boulder.
- Increase investment in mental health and wellness resources, with a focus on marginalized and first-generation students.
- Protect and support international students, including legal and financial assistance amid federal policy changes.
- Accelerate the transition to clean energy and integrate climate justice into the curriculum.
- Ensure that the majority of university resources are directed to direct student support, research, and community service, not administrative overhead.
CU Boulder must lead by example and make real its promise that every admitted student can graduate, regardless of background or circumstance. Join us in demanding urgent action for a more just, sustainable, and supportive CU Boulder.
Key Demands
