Goal: We call on the US government to immediately revoke the punitive tariffs on Indian imports and respect India's sovereign right to determine its own energy policy.

The recent decision by the US administration to impose steep tariffs on India for its oil trade with Russia is an unfair and discriminatory action that undermines global economic justice and India's right to energy security.

The United States has announced a 50% tariff on Indian imports in response to India's oil trade with Russia, a move that the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has rightly called 'unfair, unjustified and unreasonable.' These measures threaten the livelihoods of millions, disrupt global supply chains, and set a dangerous precedent of economic coercion.

India's energy policy is shaped by the need to provide affordable energy to 1.4 billion people, and its oil imports are based on market realities, not political pressure. Singling out India while other countries continue similar trade practices exposes the discriminatory nature of these tariffs.

We urge the US government to reverse these punitive measures and engage in good-faith, multilateral dialogue that respects the sovereignty and economic rights of all nations.
