Target: U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
Goal: Urge the U.S. Treasury Department to uphold existing renewable energy subsidy rules and reject any attempts to impose stricter regulations that would hinder the growth of clean energy infrastructure.
As the demand for electricity surges due to advancements in artificial intelligence and the digital economy, it is more important than ever to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. The current federal tax credit rules for wind and solar projects have enabled rapid growth in clean energy, supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs and contributing trillions of dollars to the U.S. economy.
President Trump's recent executive order to tighten these rules threatens to derail this progress. Stricter definitions of project construction could eliminate up to 60 gigawatts of planned solar capacity by 2030, according to industry experts. This would not only slow the transition to renewable energy but also jeopardize economic growth and job creation in a critical sector.
We call on the Treasury Department to listen to workers, communities, and industry leaders and maintain the current rules that have proven effective. Now is the time to invest in a just, sustainable future—not to roll back the policies that make it possible.
