Target: United States Congress
Goal: Urge Congress to take immediate action to prevent automatic Medicare cuts caused by deficit increases from recent tax and spending laws.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has warned that, unless Congress intervenes, Medicare could face up to $491 billion in cuts between 2027 and 2034. These cuts are the result of a 2010 law that mandates automatic reductions to federal programs when legislation increases the federal deficit. The recent tax and spending law, signed under President Trump, is projected to add $3.4 trillion to the deficit over the next decade, directly threatening the future of Medicare.
Millions of seniors rely on Medicare for essential healthcare, and any reduction in funding will jeopardize their well-being. Rural hospitals, already struggling with Medicaid cuts, could face further hardships if Medicare is slashed. Congress has always acted to prevent such cuts in the past, and we must ensure they do so again. We call on our elected representatives to put the health and dignity of seniors above partisan politics and special interests.
