Target: President of the United States, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Congress
Goal: We call on the U.S. government to uphold democratic principles by ensuring that any negotiations regarding Ukraine are transparent, inclusive, and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and the will of its people.
On August 15, President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine. Despite the spectacle and rhetoric, no concrete agreements were reached, and Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy was notably excluded from the talks. Instead, President Trump publicly urged Ukraine to 'make a deal' with Russia, emphasizing Russia’s nuclear power and pushing for rapid compromise.
These closed-door discussions and public pressure on Ukraine to concede risk undermining the country’s sovereignty and the democratic will of its people. Peace cannot be imposed by powerful nations behind closed doors or through coercive diplomacy. Any process that sidelines Ukraine or pressures it to accept unjust terms threatens not only Ukrainian self-determination but also sets a dangerous precedent for international relations.
We demand a transparent, inclusive, and just peace process—one that centers Ukrainian voices, respects international law, and rejects any form of backroom deal-making that prioritizes optics over substance. The U.S. must stand firmly for democracy, human rights, and the right of all peoples to determine their own future free from intimidation or external pressure.
