Recent discussions between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have raised serious concerns about the transparency and accountability of diplomatic efforts regarding Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. The lack of clear agreements and public details threatens the prospects for a just and peaceful resolution.

We are alarmed by reports that President Trump and President Putin met for over two hours to discuss Russia's war in Ukraine, yet failed to announce any concrete agreement or share substantive details with the public or key stakeholders. This lack of transparency undermines democratic oversight and risks sidelining the voices of Ukrainians and international partners who are directly impacted by these decisions.

Peace in Ukraine can only be achieved through open, accountable diplomacy that centers the needs and rights of those most affected.
