Target: President of the United States, US Congress, and the Office of the US Trade Representative
Goal: We call on the US government to immediately halt the implementation of new tariffs on Indian imports and to pursue diplomatic solutions that prioritize economic stability, workers’ rights, and global solidarity.
The United States has recently imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports, with half already in effect and the remainder set to begin on August 27. These tariffs have been justified by referencing India's oil trade with Russia, but in reality, they will hurt working people, small businesses, and consumers in both countries. Tariffs of this magnitude threaten to raise prices on everyday goods, disrupt supply chains, and jeopardize jobs in manufacturing, agriculture, and retail. Instead of punitive economic measures, we urge the US government to engage in constructive dialogue with India and all global partners. Solutions to international conflicts must not come at the expense of working families or undermine the principles of fair trade and cooperation.
We demand an immediate halt to these tariffs and a commitment to policies that support economic justice, international solidarity, and peace.
