Target: President of the United States, US Congress, and the US Department of State
Goal: Urge the US administration to provide robust aid to Ukraine and implement targeted measures against Russia, rather than ineffective tariffs on third countries.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, fueled by Russia's illegal invasion, demands a strong and principled response from the United States and its allies. Recent discussions about imposing tariffs on India for its purchase of Russian oil are a distraction from the real issue: holding President Putin and his regime accountable for their actions.
Tariffs on India or other third countries will not deter Putin or end the war in Ukraine. Instead, the US must focus on providing Ukraine with the military and humanitarian aid it urgently needs, and implement direct sanctions and punitive measures against Russia and those enabling its aggression.
We call on the US government to reject ineffective tariff policies and instead:
- Increase direct aid to Ukraine
- Enforce and expand targeted sanctions on Russia
- Work with international partners to isolate Putin's regime
Only through decisive and targeted action can the US help bring an end to the conflict and support the Ukrainian people's fight for sovereignty and democracy.
