Target: President Donald Trump, U.S. State Department, U.S. Congress, and the White House National Security Council
Goal: Ensure that all negotiations about Ukraine’s future include Ukrainian representatives and uphold the principle of 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.' Demand full transparency and accountability in all peace talks.
The recent summit in Alaska between President Trump and President Putin has raised serious concerns about the direction and integrity of peace negotiations regarding Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. Despite the devastating impact of the war on millions of Ukrainians and the international community’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, the summit excluded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders from direct participation.
This exclusion violates the fundamental principle that no decisions about Ukraine’s future should be made without Ukrainian involvement. It also opens the door to backroom deals that may undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity, self-determination, and security. Reports suggest that Trump may be considering concessions or security arrangements that do not involve NATO, and that Russia is pushing for terms that would cement its gains and block Ukraine’s aspirations.
We call on the U.S. government to uphold democratic values, transparency, and international law by ensuring that Ukraine is fully represented in all negotiations about its future. The people of Ukraine must not be sidelined in decisions that affect their lives, rights, and sovereignty.
