Goal: We call on US officials to halt any normalization of relations with the Russian government until there is accountability for the invasion of Ukraine and respect for international law.
The arrival of Vladimir Putin at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, greeted by President Trump with made-for-TV spectacle, sends a dangerous message to the world. While the images may appear diplomatic, they ignore the grave reality: Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine and violations of international law. Welcoming Putin without accountability undermines the principles of justice and democracy, and disrespects the Ukrainian people and all who stand against war crimes.
We urge US leaders to stand firm against the normalization of relations with governments that disregard human rights and international norms. Diplomatic gestures must not come at the expense of justice and peace.
