Target: North Dakota Republican Party State Committee and Chairman Matthew Simon
Goal: We call on the North Dakota Republican Party to respect the will of the voters by implementing transparent, democratic processes in party leadership and decision-making, and to end the practice of internal censures against popularly elected officials.
North Dakota's elected officials, including Governor Kelly Armstrong, have earned the trust and support of a strong majority of voters. Yet, the current leadership of the North Dakota Republican Party, led by Chairman Matthew Simon, has repeatedly censured Governor Armstrong and denied endorsements to other popular officials, such as Representative Julie Fedorchak. These actions are not only out of step with the electorate, but are the result of internal elections and decisions made in non-transparent, exclusionary settings.
Such practices undermine the democratic foundations of our political system and erode public trust. The party's leadership must reflect the will of North Dakotans, not the interests of a small, unrepresentative faction. We urge the NDGOP to adopt open, accountable, and democratic procedures and to respect the choices made by the people at the ballot box.
