Defend D.C.'s Right to Self-Govern: End Federal Takeover of Our Police

For decades, the people of Washington, D.C. have fought for the right to self-governance. Now, that right is under attack. President Trump’s deployment of federal agents and seizure of local police authority—under the pretense of addressing a crime rate that is at a 30-year low—has led to checkpoints, the clearing of homeless encampments, and the intimidation of peaceful residents. This hostile takeover is not about public safety; it is about silencing dissent and undermining democracy.

Residents, activists, and allies from across the country have gathered in protest, demanding an end to this unlawful occupation. The D.C. Attorney General has taken legal action, but we must show broad public support for D.C.'s right to self-determination. We call on all people who believe in democracy and justice to stand with D.C. and demand an immediate end to the federal occupation of our city.
