Goal: We call on President Trump and U.S. officials to ensure that any negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine are transparent, prioritize human rights, and include meaningful public oversight.

As President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet in Alaska to discuss the war in Ukraine, the American public deserves transparency, accountability, and a commitment to human rights in any diplomatic process.

President Trump and President Putin's high-profile meeting in Alaska marks a critical moment for global peace efforts, especially regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine. While diplomatic engagement is essential, it must not come at the expense of transparency, democratic oversight, and the protection of human rights.

Historically, closed-door negotiations have too often excluded the voices of those most affected by conflict, and have failed to hold authoritarian leaders accountable. The American public, as well as the people of Ukraine, deserve to know that their interests and rights are being represented in any agreement.

We urge U.S. leaders to ensure that all negotiations with Russia are conducted openly, with clear communication to the public, and with a firm commitment to upholding international law and the sovereignty of Ukraine. Peace must not be achieved through secret deals or at the expense of justice and accountability.
