Goal: We call on U.S. policymakers and the international community to ensure that any peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are transparent, inclusive, and respect the rights and voices of the Ukrainian people.
Donald Trump’s pattern of setting arbitrary deadlines and then disregarding them is now being applied to the gravest of matters: the future of Ukraine. Reports suggest that Trump has proposed a one-on-one summit with Vladimir Putin, excluding Ukraine and its European allies from the negotiating table. This approach not only sidelines those most affected by the conflict but also risks legitimizing Russia’s illegal invasion and occupation of Ukrainian territory.
Ukraine’s sovereignty and the right of its people to determine their own future must not be traded away in pursuit of personal accolades or political gain. Secret deals that ignore the voices and interests of Ukrainians set a dangerous precedent and undermine the values of democracy, self-determination, and international law.
We urge the U.S. government and the international community to reject any peace process that does not fully include Ukraine and its representatives. The Ukrainian people must have a decisive role in any negotiations that determine their country’s future. Anything less is an affront to justice and peace.
