Target: U.S. Congress, State Legislatures, and City Governments
Goal: We urge federal, state, and local leaders to reject punitive crackdowns and instead invest in humane, just, and effective policies for America’s cities.
Too often, politicians and media figures blame cities for complex social problems, calling for increased policing, military intervention, and harsh crackdowns. This approach ignores the real issues facing urban communities: underfunded schools, lack of affordable housing, systemic racism, and economic inequality.
Criminalizing poverty, scapegoating immigrants, and deploying the National Guard will not solve our problems. Instead, these actions deepen divisions and harm the very people who need support the most. We must invest in proven solutions: affordable housing, mental health care, living wage jobs, and restorative justice.
We call on our elected officials to reject fear-based politics and commit to policies that build safe, inclusive, and thriving cities for all.
