Goal: Demand an immediate halt to mid-decade partisan redistricting and call for independent, nonpartisan commissions to oversee the drawing of congressional maps in every state.

Across the country, partisan politicians are rushing to redraw congressional maps mid-decade in a blatant attempt to rig elections and entrench their own power. This undemocratic practice, known as gerrymandering, threatens the fundamental principle of fair representation for all.

In recent weeks, states like Texas and Missouri, encouraged by former President Donald Trump, have moved to redraw congressional maps outside of the regular census cycle. Their goal is clear: to secure more seats for their own party, regardless of the will of the people. In response, some Democratic-led states are considering similar tactics, escalating a dangerous cycle of partisan retaliation.

This arms race of gerrymandering undermines our democracy, silences voters, and erodes trust in our electoral system. The power to choose our representatives should belong to the people, not to politicians manipulating district lines for their own gain.

We demand an end to this undemocratic practice. Every state must adopt independent, nonpartisan redistricting commissions and prohibit mid-decade redistricting for partisan advantage. Only then can we ensure that every vote counts equally and that our government truly reflects the people it serves.
