Target: President of the United States, U.S. Congress, and the DC Circuit Court of Appeals
Goal: We seek to halt the downsizing of the CFPB, restore its full workforce, and ensure its continued independence and effectiveness in protecting consumers from financial abuse.
The CFPB has played a crucial role in defending everyday Americans from predatory banking, unfair lending, and financial exploitation. The recent decision by a divided federal appeals court paves the way for the Trump administration to cut more than 80% of the agency's workforce, cancel its headquarters lease, and undermine its mission. These actions threaten to permanently cripple the agency and leave consumers vulnerable to unchecked corporate abuse.
We cannot allow the hard-won protections established after the 2008 financial crisis to be dismantled. The CFPB must be preserved, fully funded, and empowered to continue its essential work. We call on our elected officials and the courts to intervene and stop these reckless cuts before irreparable harm is done.
