Goal: We urge US leadership to center human rights and democratic principles in all discussions and agreements with the Belarusian government.
The announcement that President Trump will visit Belarus at the invitation of President Lukashenko raises serious concerns about the direction of US foreign policy. President Lukashenko's government has been widely criticized for its record on human rights, suppression of dissent, and lack of free elections. Any official visit must not be used to legitimize or normalize authoritarian practices.
We call on President Trump and the US State Department to ensure that all interactions with the Belarusian government are conducted with full transparency and with a clear commitment to advocating for human rights, press freedom, and democratic reforms. The people of Belarus deserve international solidarity and support in their struggle for justice and democracy.
