Demand the Immediate Release of All Political Prisoners in Belarus

Target: President Alexander Lukashenko and the Government of Belarus

Goal: We urge the Belarusian government to immediately and unconditionally release all political prisoners and to respect the fundamental rights of freedom of expression, assembly, and association.

Recent statements from Belarusian officials indicate ongoing negotiations regarding the release of prisoners, with limited progress so far. While a handful of individuals have been freed, many more remain unjustly incarcerated for exercising their basic rights.

Belarus continues to hold numerous political prisoners, despite international pressure and recent discussions with foreign leaders. While the release of 16 individuals is a positive step, it is not enough. Many activists, journalists, and ordinary citizens remain behind bars for peacefully expressing dissent or participating in protests.

We believe that no one should be imprisoned for their beliefs or for demanding democratic reforms. The ongoing detention of political prisoners is a violation of Belarus's international human rights obligations and undermines the rule of law.

We call on President Lukashenko and the Belarusian authorities to take immediate action to free all political prisoners, ensure fair treatment for detainees, and guarantee the rights to free speech and peaceful assembly for all citizens.
