Goal: We call on Congress and state leaders to investigate and prevent the politicized use of military forces in American cities, uphold the Posse Comitatus Act, and ensure transparency and accountability in all future military deployments on U.S. soil.
The contrast is clear: in 2015, GOP leaders like Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz fueled conspiracy theories about a routine military training exercise, Jade Helm, under President Obama—wasting taxpayer dollars and stoking public fear. Yet, when former President Trump federalized the National Guard and deployed active-duty Marines to American cities, these same voices not only failed to object, but actively encouraged the use of military force against civilians.
This hypocrisy is not just a matter of partisan politics—it is a threat to our constitutional order. The Posse Comitatus Act exists to prevent the military from being used as a tool of domestic law enforcement. The Obama administration was transparent about Jade Helm, which involved no law enforcement powers and was designed for overseas readiness. In contrast, recent deployments have blurred the lines between military and police, raising grave concerns about civil liberties and the precedent being set for future administrations.
We demand that Congress and state leaders take immediate action to investigate past abuses, reaffirm the limits on military involvement in civilian affairs, and ensure that all future deployments are transparent, justified, and subject to robust oversight. Our democracy depends on it.
