Demand a Just and Lasting Peace for Ukraine—No Deals Without Ukrainian Voices

As President Trump prepares for a high-stakes summit with Vladimir Putin, we are deeply concerned by reports that the United States may pressure Ukraine into accepting territorial swaps or other compromises that undermine its sovereignty. Any peace process must center the rights and agency of the Ukrainian people, not the interests of foreign powers seeking to divide or control their land.

The war in Ukraine has resulted in immense human suffering, displacement, and loss. A just peace can only be achieved through respect for international law, Ukrainian self-determination, and accountability for war crimes. We call on U.S. leaders to reject any backroom deals that ignore these principles and to ensure that Ukraine is not forced to accept unjust terms under duress.

We urge the U.S. government to:

• Publicly commit to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
• Demand that any peace negotiations include direct and meaningful participation from Ukrainian representatives and civil society.
• Reject any agreement that legitimizes or rewards aggression, occupation, or forced territorial changes.
• Increase humanitarian and reconstruction aid to Ukraine, and support international efforts to hold perpetrators of war crimes accountable.
