Demand Real Support for Ukrainian Sovereignty and Peace

As the world watches the ongoing war in Ukraine, recent reports indicate that high-profile meetings between U.S. and Russian leaders may be used to further Russian aggression rather than secure a just peace. Former U.S. Ambassador Jim Gilmore has warned that these talks risk reducing the conflict to a matter of financial cost, ignoring the real stakes for Ukrainian sovereignty and global security.

We cannot allow backroom deals or foreign summits to determine the fate of Ukraine without the full participation and consent of the Ukrainian people. History has shown that appeasement of aggression only leads to more violence and instability. The United States must take a principled stand: support Ukraine’s right to self-determination, demand the withdrawal of Russian troops, and ensure any peace process is led by Ukrainians themselves.
