Target: President Donald Trump, U.S. Administration, and Congressional Foreign Relations Committees
Goal: Ensure that any peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are transparent, inclusive, and respect the sovereignty and self-determination of the Ukrainian people.
The scheduled meeting between President Trump and President Putin at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage raises serious concerns about the future of Ukraine and the integrity of international diplomacy. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky was not invited to participate, and the lack of transparency around the summit’s agenda threatens to undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and the trust of its European allies.
History has shown that peace cannot be imposed from above, especially when those most affected are excluded from the negotiating table. Any agreement reached without Ukraine’s direct involvement risks legitimizing aggression and setting a dangerous precedent for international relations. The voices of the Ukrainian people and their elected representatives must be central to any peace process.
We call on President Trump and the U.S. administration to commit to transparent, inclusive negotiations that prioritize Ukrainian sovereignty and uphold international law. We urge Congressional oversight to ensure that no deals are struck behind closed doors that violate these principles.
