Target: Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Government of Canada
Goal: Ensure all peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are inclusive, respect Ukrainian sovereignty, and are backed by robust Canadian support for Ukraine's right to self-determination.
The ongoing war in Ukraine is not just a territorial dispute—it is a struggle for democracy, sovereignty, and the right of Ukrainians to determine their own future. Recent talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, which exclude Ukrainian and European voices, threaten to undermine these fundamental principles. We are deeply concerned that any agreement made without Ukraine at the table risks legitimizing aggression and rewarding the use of force to redraw borders.
Prime Minister Mark Carney and Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand have affirmed Canada's commitment to Ukraine, but words must be matched by action. Canada must not allow any international negotiation to proceed without Ukrainian participation and consent. The Canadian government must also increase diplomatic, military, and economic pressure on Russia to end its illegal invasion and support Ukraine's reconstruction and security.
We urge the Canadian government to stand firmly with Ukraine and its people by ensuring all peace processes are transparent, democratic, and uphold the principles of international law. Canada must lead by example and rally its allies to guarantee that Ukraine's future is decided by Ukrainians—not by foreign powers behind closed doors.
