Goal: Ensure that any peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia preserves Ukraine’s territorial integrity and rejects the normalization of territorial conquest.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in immense suffering, displacement, and loss of life. As world leaders meet to discuss the possibility of peace, it is imperative that any agreement does not reward aggression or set a dangerous precedent for future conflicts. We are deeply concerned by past indications that the U.S. administration may be willing to accept Russian demands for Ukrainian territory as part of a peace deal. This would not only undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty but also embolden future acts of aggression globally.
We support diplomatic efforts to end the war, but peace must not come at the expense of justice. The international community must stand firm against any proposal that forces Ukraine to give up its land or sovereignty. We urge all negotiators to center the rights and voices of those most affected by the war, and to ensure that any agreement includes robust mechanisms for accountability, reparations, and the safe return of displaced people.
