Goal: Ensure that peace negotiations between the US, Russia, and Ukraine are transparent, inclusive, and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty—without pressuring Ukraine to cede territory or accept unjust compromises.
The recent summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin has raised hopes for a diplomatic resolution to the war in Ukraine. While diplomacy is essential, we must not allow backroom deals or great power politics to dictate the fate of Ukraine without full participation from Ukrainian representatives and civil society. Any peace process must respect Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders and the right of its people to self-determination, free from coercion or threats.
We are deeply concerned by suggestions that Ukraine may be pressured to concede territory or accept terms that undermine its sovereignty. History has shown that sustainable peace cannot be achieved by sacrificing justice or ignoring the voices of those most impacted by conflict. We call on all negotiators to center Ukrainian agency, uphold international law, and reject any settlement that legitimizes aggression or forced land swaps.
