With President Trump preparing to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine, there are growing concerns about the transparency and inclusivity of these high-stakes negotiations. President Trump has stated that territorial swaps between Ukraine and Russia are 'up to Kyiv to decide,' yet these talks are taking place without clear guarantees of Ukrainian representation or public oversight.
Furthermore, suggestions that security guarantees for Ukraine may come 'not in the form of NATO' raise serious questions about the long-term safety and sovereignty of Ukraine, especially as millions have been displaced and thousands killed since the war began. Decisions about Ukraine’s future must not be made behind closed doors or dictated by foreign powers without robust Ukrainian participation and public accountability.
