Target: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, California Governor, Monrovia City Council, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
Goal: We call on local, state, and federal officials to halt all ICE raids in our communities, protect the rights and safety of immigrant workers, and ensure accountability for the harm caused by these enforcement actions.
On Thursday, a man died after being struck by a car while fleeing an ICE raid at a Home Depot in Monrovia, California—a location where day laborers, many of whom are immigrants, gather seeking work. This tragedy is the direct result of aggressive and militarized immigration enforcement tactics that create fear and chaos in our communities.
Masked and armed ICE agents have been conducting raids at workplaces across Los Angeles, targeting people based on their appearance, language, or where they gather. These actions have led to widespread fear, protests, and now, the loss of a life. Local officials were not even informed about the raid, highlighting the lack of transparency and accountability in these operations.
We cannot allow our communities to be sites of terror and tragedy. We demand an immediate end to these dangerous raids, protection for immigrant workers, and transparency from federal agencies. The rights and safety of all community members must be upheld.
