This incident comes on the heels of mounting protests and credible allegations regarding the poor treatment of immigrants detained on the premises.
Despite claims by the Department of Homeland Security that the building is not a detention center and that allegations of poor conditions are 'categorically false,' a federal judge recently ordered the Trump administration to improve conditions after finding evidence of unsanitary facilities, lack of food and water, and denial of medication and legal access for detainees.
