Target: U.S. Congress, President of the United States, Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents
Goal: We call on Congress and the President to end military aid to Gaza, ensure academic freedom in our institutions, and protect the right to dissent without criminalization.
Our nation faces a crisis of priorities. A person was recently arrested for 'assaulting' a federal officer with a sandwich, while billions of dollars in bombs are sent to Gaza, contributing to humanitarian catastrophe and starvation. Meanwhile, our leaders attempt to rewrite history and censor academic discourse, undermining the integrity of our institutions and the right to free speech.
We cannot stand by as peaceful dissent is criminalized, and as government officials attempt to dictate historical narratives for political gain. Academic integrity and freedom of expression are cornerstones of a just society. At the same time, we must hold our leaders accountable for the consequences of U.S. foreign policy, especially when it results in suffering abroad.
Join us in demanding that our government prioritize human rights, academic freedom, and the right to dissent. It's time for accountability, transparency, and a commitment to justice at home and abroad.
