Target: U.S. Department of Defense, Secretary Pete Hegseth, and all federal officials
Goal: We call on the Department of Defense and all public officials to unequivocally reaffirm their support for women's right to vote, denounce anti-suffrage rhetoric, and ensure that religious extremism does not influence government policy.
In 1920, the 19th Amendment secured the right to vote for women after decades of courageous activism. This fundamental right must never be questioned or undermined. Yet, recent actions by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth—sharing a video featuring pastors advocating for the repeal of women's suffrage and promoting a religious agenda—raise troubling questions about the direction of our government.
We are alarmed by the growing influence of religious leaders who openly oppose women's rights and advocate for policies that would roll back hard-won freedoms. Their rhetoric not only threatens women's participation in democracy but also challenges the foundational American principle of separation of church and state.
We urge the Department of Defense and all public officials to stand firm in support of women's rights, to reject any association with anti-democratic movements, and to ensure that government policy remains free from religious extremism. The rights of women and the integrity of our democracy must be protected.
