Goal: We call on U.S. leaders to guarantee that peace negotiations regarding Ukraine are not conducted behind closed doors and that Ukraine's government and civil society have a direct seat at the table.
The recent summit between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska raises urgent concerns about the future of Ukraine. While the stated goal is to end the war, reports suggest that Ukraine is excluded from the initial talks, and that territorial concessions may be considered as part of a potential deal.
History shows that peace agreements reached without the full participation of those most affected are neither just nor durable. Any negotiations that exclude Ukraine’s democratically elected leadership and civil society risk legitimizing aggression and undermining international law.
