Target: US Department of Homeland Security, President of the United States, and Congress
Goal: We urge the US government to extend and expand humanitarian protections for Ukrainian refugees, ensuring their safety and right to remain in the United States.
Over the past two years, the Uniting for Ukraine program provided a lifeline for Ukrainians escaping the devastation of war. This initiative allowed refugees to resettle quickly in the US, offering them temporary legal status and the hope of safety. However, due to recent policy changes, approximately 120,000 Ukrainians are now at risk of losing their humanitarian protection, facing the threat of arrest and deportation.
Many of these individuals have built new lives, found sponsors, and contributed positively to their communities. Stripping away their status would not only endanger their safety but also undermine America's longstanding commitment to supporting those fleeing conflict and persecution.
We call on the US government to act immediately to extend and expand humanitarian protections for all Ukrainians in the country, regardless of their arrival date. No one who fled war should be forced to return to danger.
