Target: Governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan, US State Department, and international oversight bodies
Goal: We call on the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure transparency, democratic oversight, and protection of local interests in the implementation of the 'Trump Route' corridor agreement.
The signing of the 'Trump Route' transport corridor agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States has far-reaching implications for the South Caucasus region. While peace and cooperation are vital, the lack of meaningful public engagement and the unprecedented 99-year foreign management of a critical transport corridor threaten local sovereignty and democratic accountability.
We are deeply concerned that this agreement was reached without adequate transparency or input from the people most affected. The corridor's impact on local communities, the environment, and regional security must be fully assessed and openly debated. Furthermore, the long-term transfer of control to a foreign power sets a dangerous precedent for the region's autonomy and self-determination.
We demand that the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan prioritize the interests of their people, uphold democratic principles, and ensure that any international agreements are subject to robust public scrutiny and oversight.
