Target: Premier Doug Ford and Members of the Ontario Legislature
Goal: Urge Premier Doug Ford and the Ontario Legislature to enact policies that ensure humane treatment for both animals and people, including increased social assistance, affordable housing, and fully funded health care and education.
Premier Doug Ford has promised to legislate an end to medical testing on dogs, recognizing the inhumanity of such practices. While this is a positive step for animal welfare, many Ontarians are still subjected to inhumane conditions due to inadequate social assistance, unaffordable housing, and underfunded health care and education systems.
Thousands of people, including children and the elderly, are living in poverty or even in tents because they cannot afford rent. Our schools and hospitals are struggling with staff shortages and insufficient resources. Humane treatment must extend beyond animals to the most vulnerable people in our communities.
We call on the Ontario government to match its compassion for animals with concrete action to protect and uplift all Ontarians. Let us build a province where everyone has access to basic needs, dignity, and opportunity.
