Target: Mayor Muriel Bowser, DC City Council, Department of Homeland Security, and the White House
Goal: We call on city and federal officials to immediately halt the use of federal law enforcement against DC residents, end the forced removal of homeless encampments, and prioritize real solutions that respect the rights and dignity of all people.
We are deeply alarmed by the recent deployment of federal law enforcement officers in Washington DC, where peaceful protesters and everyday drivers have been subjected to stops and intimidation. The use of checkpoints and the targeting of unhoused residents for removal are not solutions to the challenges our city faces.
False claims about crime rates are being used to justify these actions, while the real needs of DC residents—especially those without homes—are ignored. The forced clearing of homeless encampments, without providing adequate shelter or support, puts vulnerable people at even greater risk.
We demand an immediate end to the criminalization of poverty and protest, and call for investment in social services, affordable housing, and community-based solutions. Our city deserves compassionate, evidence-based policies that protect everyone’s rights and safety.
