Protect Free Speech and Human Rights in the UK: Reject Online Censorship and Discriminatory Laws

Target: Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the UK Parliament

Goal: To pressure the UK government to repeal repressive online censorship laws, uphold free speech for all, and ensure that trade deals do not undermine human rights or public protections.

Recent reports highlight a concerning rise in both antisemitic incidents and online censorship in the UK. New laws and regulations, often justified in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion, are eroding fundamental rights to free expression and disproportionately targeting marginalized voices. We must stand together to defend civil liberties, resist reactionary trade deals, and demand a more just and open society.

The UK is facing a critical moment. Under the guise of protecting sensitivities and promoting diversity, new laws and policies are restricting freedom of expression and criminalizing online speech. These measures do not address the root causes of discrimination and hate, but instead silence dissent and limit public debate. At the same time, proposed trade deals with the United States threaten to weaken food safety, workers' rights, and environmental standards, all while powerful tech corporations push for fewer regulations and greater market access.

We call on the UK government to reject all forms of censorship that target marginalized communities, to repeal laws that criminalize free expression, and to ensure that any international agreements prioritize human rights, public health, and social justice over corporate profits. The UK must not sacrifice its hard-won liberties or protections in the name of commerce or political expediency.
