Stop the Militarization and Political Manipulation of American Cities

In the past year, Republican leaders have repeatedly exaggerated crime rates in major American cities, painting a false picture of chaos to justify unprecedented federal intervention. Despite clear evidence that crime is at historic lows in cities like Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, the federal government has seized control of local police, deployed National Guard troops, and sent FBI agents into peaceful neighborhoods. These actions are not about public safety—they are about political control and intimidation of communities that do not align with a conservative agenda.

American cities are vibrant, diverse, and safe places that thrive because of their inclusivity and local leadership. The current campaign of fear-mongering and militarization is an attack on democracy, civil rights, and the right of cities to govern themselves. We must stand together to demand that federal officials respect local autonomy, end the occupation of our streets, and stop using law enforcement as a tool of political repression.
