These actions escalate fear and uncertainty for immigrant families, Black and Brown communities, and all those who value civil liberties. The reopening of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement office and the reported surge in ICE arrests further entrench a punitive approach to migration, rather than addressing root causes or investing in humane solutions.
We must reject the normalization of militarized policing and the targeting of vulnerable communities. Instead, we call for policies that prioritize human rights, due process, and community well-being over intimidation and enforcement.
