As President Trump prepares to meet with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, reports suggest that a deal could be brokered that would legitimize Russia's occupation of Ukrainian territory. We must stand against any agreement that sacrifices Ukraine’s sovereignty and enables borders to be redrawn by force.

Recent reports indicate that the US administration is considering a settlement with Russia that would hand over large portions of Ukrainian territory in exchange for a ceasefire. President Trump has signaled a willingness to negotiate land swaps, raising alarm among Ukrainians and European allies who fear that such concessions would reward aggression and undermine international law.

Any agreement that recognizes Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea and other regions, or that pressures Ukraine to accept reduced sovereignty, sets a dangerous precedent. It undermines the right of nations to self-determination and encourages further acts of military aggression worldwide.

We call on US leaders to reject any deal that legitimizes territorial conquest and to stand firmly for Ukraine's internationally recognized borders. Peace must be achieved through diplomacy, justice, and respect for international law—not through the forced ceding of land.
